When I launched this blog in February 2011 I had no idea where it would go or what it might become. I was inspired by my friend’s suicide to start writing, just as I had been inspired by my own depression in 2010 to start my little online jewelry shop EllieAdorn.
But the name of the blog never felt right to me.
So I’ve decided that I’m changing it to Motherhood Unadorned. Its motherhood naked, stark, plain and undorecorated (the definition of “unadorned”). We’re getting to the root of the difficult topics here, without embellishments or trappings that hide what’s really going on. I don’t think we should be afraid to show who we really are, without judgement or prejudice.
Facebook is silly and won’t let me change blog page name, so I’ve had to create a new blog Facebook page. When you have a chance, please go “like” Motherhood Unadorned on Facebook. (I’ll be transitioning and deleting the My 3rd Baby Facebook page in the coming weeks.)
I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to post a comment or drop me an email to email@example.com. If there’s a topic you’d like me to cover on the blog, or if you’d like to share your own story, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Also, here’s a line up of things to come:
–Lots more beautiful guest posts and posts by me about mental health, postpartum mood disorders, suicide prevention, infertility, miscarriage, adoption, prematurity and parenting and relationship challenges and successes.
–Great giveaways from some of my favorite companies!
–Tuesdays The Red Dress Club RemembeRED Memoir posts based on a one-word or one-photo prompt. These are my memories triggered by interesting prompts posted each week on TRDC site. –Wednesdays Wordless Wednesday Photo Link Up
–Thursdays The NEW “Do Good Thursday Link Up” with Motherhood Unadorned, The Maven of Social Media and Family Fashion and Facts. This is a great opportunity to see what wonderful things blogs across the Web are doing with their writing and in their communities as well.
–I’ll also soon be announcing my own awareness and fundraising campaign for the BIG Out of the Darkness Community Walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in Seattle October 1st.
I hope you enjoy Motherhood Unadorned, and thank you for reading!
