I was going to title this post “My process of grief includes my blog” as follow up to last week’s post about grief and laughter. But that just felt too depressing. And what I really want to talk about is how creative outlets like jewelry making and particularly blogging have really changed my life.
I’m a mom, yes.
A wife, yes.
A former PR professional and marketing consultant, yes.
Am (er, was before kids) an avid reader, yes.
I love TV but never watch it any more, yes.
And I have mental illness.
But I am also a designer and seller of jewelry, and more importantly a blogger. And it all started because of the stress of mommyhood, depression, loss and grief.
It’s strange to embrace being a “blogger” since I had never even read a blog 6 months ago. But I’ve always been a writer at heart. And when inspiration strikes, a pretty good one I think.
I took a risk starting a blog knowing nothing, but have been challenged and inspired by it. And I’m incredibly lucky to be going to BlogHer conference this week to help me learn, meet other bloggers, and hopefully figure out ways to grow this life changer into an agent of change.
So come on, tell me, what creative and/or professional outlet has been your life changer? How does it help define you?
P.S. Did you see my new header? What do you think?
