For the past 10 years, Kristin has completed 17 marathons and 9 full IRONMAN triathlons while also fighting Cancer. In 2003, she was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer, resulting in 2 rounds of radiation, 5 neck surgeries and 9 brain surgeries.
Her 10th brain surgery is now scheduled for April 30th.
Her coping mechanism is racing. And she truly believes anything is possible.
Each time she races, she wears an American Cancer Society singlet with the words “Suck It Cancer” taped to her back. As one of ACS’ athletes, she has raised over $120,000 to fight cancer.
In October 2013, IRONMAN World Championship will take place in Kona and Kristin wants to be there. THIS IS HER DREAM!
Cancer has taken over her life for 10 years, and racing keeps her positive. She is humble to a fault and has no idea why anyone considers her inspiring. So her many friends have started a campaign to #SendKristintoKona via the Kona Inspired Contest that will award 7 spots to race in the IRONMAN Kona.
Kristin needs our vote, and it is so simple. Just click this link: bit.ly/SendKristinToKona and hit “Vote for This.” That’s it. No signs ups. And you can vote daily. Please vote daily, through May 7.
