Mental Health Month is all about breaking down barriers, changing perceptions, and fighting stigma. So I’m working on an upcoming post that I hope will do just that.
But I need your help!!
I’m creating a photo collage in honor of May as Mental Health Month.”
I’m inviting those of you who battle mental illness to submit a photo by end of day Friday, May 24th to cristicomes(at)gmail(dot)com. This is a photo of you, just as you are, holding a piece of paper that tells us what you love about you. Not physical attributes, rather I want to see the great parts of your personality that shine through in spite of, or even because of, your mental illness.
Do you have great empathy? Love it!
Are you affectionate? Right on!
Are you open-minded & non-judgmental? That’s what I like to hear!
Those are just a few examples. And to give you an even better idea, I’ve included a sample pic of me. 🙂
Ok! So who’s in?!?!
Please send one photo of you, and you only. Phone pics are great. No fancy camera needed. Just please keep ’em clean, thanks!
With your photo, don’t forget to email me:
-your name (first name is fine)
-your blog URL (if you have one)
-your Twitter handle (if you have one)
-your diagnosis (if you feel comfortable)
In my photo collage post I will share as much or as little information about you as you feel comfortable sharing publicly.
But the goal here is to stand up and show the world that we are not ashamed, and in fact, are thriving, wonderful people who happen to have an illness.
All are welcome! Moms, dads, people without kids just as long as you fit the criteria of living with mental illness.
Thank you. I hope to see lots of great photos next week!
P.S. Many thanks to Lizz for inspiring this idea with this post.
