Seattle Mom Prom was this weekend, and we had a BLAST for an amazing cause.
This was the 4th annual event organized by a local mom Myla Rugge (@SeattleMomProm). She is amazing, and does all of this out of the goodness of her heart for an organization–Postpartum Support International–that she is clearly very passionate about. You know I am too!
Support in the postpartum period is absolutely essential for strong families. So I have been thrilled to attend the past 3 years and donate to the cause.
But you know, I don’t just go for the charity. I go for me too. We all get to dress up in our favorite Prom Fashions. You can even purchase corsages, dresses and accessories on-site.
My “dates” were some great friends who are also bloggers: Kerri (The Maven of Social Media) and her 2 month old son E, Heather (United States of Motherhood) and Lizz (Am I a Funny Girl?), who flew up from San Francisco for the event! Aren’t they all lovely?!?
On a personal note, Mom Prom marks a one year anniversary for me. Last year at Mom Prom I weighed 193 lbs (size 14/16). It was the very day after that I began my journey to better physical (and mental health) when I started my Dukan Diet. It was the day that I took control of my own body image roller coaster that I had been on since having kids. The postpartum period was difficult for me but last night as I danced the night away in my size 8 Adrianna Papell dress (at 163 lbs) I felt like a rock star.
Please Save the Date! Seattle Mom Prom 2014 will be May 17, the Saturday after Mother’s Day!
