Its no secret we’re a tech family. John makes video games for a living and therefore games and technology are quite ingrained in our every day lives. We have an old first generation iPad that Ronin uses regulary and Ellie has John’s old iPhone 3Gs to play games and watch movies. We even got her a darling Hello Kitty case recently and she just loves it!
And I’m not gonna lie. I encourage their interest in games not only because they learn something but because it also gives me extra time to get done what I need to do. Yes, I’m talking about an electronic babysitter here. I’m not a bad mom because I use what works. And I do actually believe that although “screen time” can sometimes be frowned upon, in our high tech society, being adept at electronic media is the wave of the future.
So last month when PBS Kids invited us to attend an event at the Seattle Science Center we jumped at the chance. My kids already LOVE PBS Kids shows and games. Before attending the event we already had several on the iPad and they often play on PBSKids.com on my laptop too. So I wanted to share with you a list of some of my kids favorites that are super fun and educational. And most of these games are FREE. Of course if you choose to purchase the games that are $1.99, you’re supporting PBS, which is a great too.
