We love Pixar movies, and try to take the kids to the theater when we can. Ronin and Ellie weren’t around when Monsters Inc. was in the theaters the first time around–but they love watching it at home–so when it came back at the end of last year, we went with a big group. They just love the movie theater experience with popcorn and the big seats.
They’ve also been watching Monsters University sneak peek videos within Angry Birds games/toons. So they were super excited to go to the theater to see it.
We all (adults included) really enjoyed it!
Its basically a prequel to Monsters Inc. and follows the story of Mike Wazowski and his passion from childhood to become a “Scarer”. He meets Sully at Monsters University and they, in a roundabout way, learn to become a team. Its funny and entertaining.
There were a couple moments that scared Ellie (3) but she recovered very quickly and never wanted to leave. Ronin (5 1/2) is sensitive to sound so he always wears his nose reducing headphones in the movie theater, and he wasn’t scared at all. My nephews (3 & 5) also weren’t scared during the movie.
I definitely recommend checking out Monsters U! Great family fun. Thumbs up!
