I have been trying so so hard to inject a little color into my wardrobe lately, especially now that its time for Spring Style. I am incredibly drawn to grey and black all of the time. But its so dreary and even though it sounds trite, wearing color helps lift my mood, just a bit. Actually feeling pulled together in general uplifts me. And when I say pulled together, I’m talking about jeans and a cute top pulled together, because for me, only truly special occasions are dress occasions.
I’m a fan of Lee Jeans and they recently asked me to review a pair for spring. As always I was tempted to get a nice dark-wash denim or black pair but instead I went a little wild and picked RED! Its all about color in Spring, right? The cool thing is when they arrived it was actually still Winter around here so these festive red babies got a lot of winter use too. 🙂 They are the Platinum Label Classic Fit Gwen Straight Leg Jeans in Ravishing Red. That’s a mouth full, but I love them. They have a mid-to-high rise, which holds in the “I had a baby” tummy and makes them much more comfortable than having to constantly pull up the waist of my lower-rise jeans. The straight leg makes them good for wearing the old knee high boots in winter but also looks great with a cute pair of flats or sandals.
For this Spring Style look, I took a couple easy spring fashion tips from my guest poster Jenna and went with geometric, which for me is stripes (I have a bit of a thing for stripes) and floral…and my mainstay of course, JEANS.
Now here’s proof at how perfect this look is for a mom-on-the-go. Red Lee’s and a peachy/orange striped top (thrifted).
Double layered necklaces (more info below) and … couldn’t keep totally away from grey..a silver belt (also thrifted.)
Perfect for Easter-time, a Bunny Necklace by West Byron Studio on Etsy.
Floral Ballet Flats by Lucky Brand (Thrifted. Similar
Now, I am not a fashionista or style-guru in the least, but I think trying to push myself a bit out of my comfort zone when it comes to my fashion choices is making me feel a bit more confident. Just a few simple touches, like those awesomely adorable floral flats for example, makes me feel an extra boost of excitement when I go out of the house. (And hint ladies, cute shoes, jewelry or a handbag always FIT.)
