Friday night our American Foundation for Suicide Prevention chapter was recognized at the Seattle Seahawks preseason game. My fellow board member Heather and I were there on the field and up on the jumbotron sharing the message of suicide prevention. It was such a thrill to reach so many people about our cause!
Because I know its hard to read, here’s what it says on the screen:
UNDERSTANDING AND PREVENTING SUICIDE
THROUGH RESEARCH, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY
To learn more about the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and what we do for suicide prevention and suicide loss support, please visit AFSP.org.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out. Contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline ‘1-800-273-TALK (8255)’ or chat online 2pm to 2am EST at www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/GetHelp/LifelineChat
If you have lost a loved one to suicide, our chapter and others around the country offer a volunteer-run Survivors of Suicide Loss Outreach Program. To help people who have recently experienced a loss, local trained survivors of suicide loss are available upon request to visit and offer peer support to the newly bereaved.

Many thanks to the Seahawks and Bonneville Seattle for recognizing us as Charity of the Month for March 2014 and including us in Friday’s charity on-the-field honor!
