Ronin turned seven this Sunday. SEVEN! And he’s been counting down to the BIG day for months. We love birthdays around here and always try to do it up and make the kids feel very special. But one thing I don’t often get them are kids cards. I mean really, as a preschooler, Ronin hardly ripped the envelope before moving on to the first present.
But now he’s reading, and I want to encourage that.
He was actually slightly slow to pick up reading in Kindergarten, but in First Grade he’s taken off and is right on track. So this time a birthday card made a lot of sense, and making it big, bold and fun was exactly what I needed. A Hallmark Kids Poster Card!
It was fun to watch (and document) him opening it!
What is this?
A Batman Poster!
You can even “become” Batman by taking out the eyes and mouth. Too funny.
I seriously cannot believe that he’s seven. I know every mom says that, but it really has flown by. He’s the sweet boy who made me a mom, but he’s not a little kid any more. It’s quite shocking some days to look at him, tallest in his class, and not see the baby he once was.
He’s now in real school and he loves it. He’s into math, running club, hip hop and video games. He’s a good friend. He’s Ellie’s best friend (most of the time) and my side-kick. He challenges me. He makes me laugh. He loves me dearly, and always shows it with cuddles and kisses (and yes I’m soaking that in while I can!)
He’s my boy, and I love him more than googolplex plus infinity.
We had so much fun the rest of his birthday, an awesome party with friends and of course sushi, his favorite.
By the way, be sure to sign up for the Hallmark Card Rewards Program and for every five cards you buy, you’ll earn a reward.
Do you give your kids cards for their birthdays?
