Disclosure: I am a Verizon #MoreSeattle Team Member and received product. All opinions are my own as always.
My kids are so LOUD! Seriously, they have an issue with volume control and my anxiety does not like it at all. Especially when they are fighting. And at 7 and almost 5, they fight and play and fight and play a lot. I love seeing them happily play together of course, and really they are happy much of the time, but sometimes even the loud joyful playing can push a nerve or two.
You may have noticed that on occasion I post “Motherhood Showdown” questions on Facebook, a would you rather this or that kind of question about motherhood. Well, a couple of months ago I asked this question:
“Would you rather (A) have a gorgeous clean home with screaming children OR (B) peacefully playing children in a very very messy house? And of course the stipulation was that you had to choose one or the other. It’s a showdown after all.
The comments, to me, were very telling. Choice B won by a landslide. I don’t know if that’s an accurate representation of the parent population at large or just that you guys are very much like me and noise sets you off. But this really hit home to me, when a month later I received the BackBeat Fit Bluetooth Stereo Headphones by Plantronics. And with that, I’ve reach my top “me time” parenting tech hack.
My #1 “Me Time” Tech Hack
Headphones with no wires. For a mom with young kids. GENIUS on so many levels.
These headphones are really fantastic for a few reasons, but mainly I can go about my day, get stuff done, and wirelessly listen to music or even watch a movie just for me while I’m with my kids.
Now before I go on here, my stupid “mama guilt” is creeping up so I have to say…I do not do this all of the time. Yes of course we spend time together. A lot of time, so please don’t go thinking me a neglectful mom. But after a long day, when it hits that “witching hour” after school and before John gets home when the volume gets super loud, I can plop myself in the kitchen, start cooking dinner, get the dishes loaded/unloaded and take some me time in my own head.
I tend to watch chick flicks that are light and romantic, or listen to happy or relaxing music, giving myself and my brain a total distraction. It really helps reset my mood, and I sometimes look up and find dinner is cooked, all the dishes are done and it didn’t even bother me to do it. Bonus!
Besides being wireless, other things I like about these particular Bluetooth headphones: They fit snuggly on the ears and the flexible rubber is actually water resistant, which is great to avoid kid or mom accidents in the kitchen. They are made to wear and stay on during exercise and even come with an armband case for your synced device. Perfect for that mood-enhancing exercise I know I should be doing.
It would make a perfect gift for mom.
