I am terrible at taking care of my car. Seriously, the absolute worst. See that 2013 date of last service?
Yeah, I took this photo on Thursday in my very own car window. And to be honest, I’m not really surprised I never noticed how desperately I needed the oil changed.
I rarely think about routine maintenance, and during a busy week it is is just NOT a priority. There is so much else on my to-do list. Taking the kids to and from school and activities (today was gymnastics and hip hop,) doctor’s appointments, household shopping, blogging work, volunteer work; it’s all higher up on the agenda.
So, car care falls to the way side … clearly. And yes this is my front seat today. Look familiar? Please tell me I’m not alone in neglecting my car.
But I have found a simple way to take care of my car AND get other errands done at the same time. The time-saving, multitasking life hack I’ve discovered: a Pennzoil oil change at Walmart. (I cannot believe I never knew about this before. Did you know about Walmart Automotive Care Centers?)
I have two hours, three days a week without my kids! I cannot afford to sit in an auto shop lobby waiting on maintenance when I should be ticking things off of my to-do list. (Like cleaning my front seat.) But I really NEED to stay on top of oil changes. My vehicle has transported the munchkins every single day for the past 7 years.
It needs to be safe. It needs to stay running. And I need to make that a priority. (I’m saying it out loud so you can all hold me accountable.)
So on Thursday after I snapped the above “date of last service” pic, I headed to my local Walmart Auto Center for a Pennzoil oil change.
How handy to get my much needed maintenance AND easily get other things done. A busy mom’s dream. I had to laugh when I turned my car in and asked how long it would take. The guy told me I was second in line so about 40 minutes, then he said with a smile, “Meanwhile you can get a cart and fill it up with shopping. We’ll page you when it’s ready.”
Ellie’s 5th birthday is coming up, so I was able to find several of her gifts and some much needed party supplies while I waited for the car. I’m headed to a conference this weekend so won’t have much time for birthday shopping before the big day. Two birds, one stone: right on.
I don’t make resolutions but if I did, taking care of my car would be on the list. It’s on my life list actually, and this time-saving life hack is going to help me stay on top of things. It’s like self care for my schedule, and my car gets quality service.
More about Pennzoil:
Pennzoil products are designed for complete protection. They help clean out sludge lesser oils leave behind and will allow you to drive an extra of 550 miles per year vs. a dirty engine. No other motor oil provides better protection from friction. I chose the High Mileage Vehicle oile change because it helps to reduce leaks and oil consumption in worn or higher mileage engines like mine. It’s a motor oil that is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles, to help keep the engines running clean and going strong for a long time.
Pennzoil also offers a free warranty that covers 15 engine parts that may fail due to engine wear or which experience abnormal wear due to friction. (For more information, check out the Pennzoil Warranty Site.)
