I love Halloween, always have. Back in the day, when I was young and single, working in an office on the Sunset Strip, I ALWAYS dressed up. I was that lone wolf (or witch) in the office who went all out planning the office Halloween party with dry ice and black garbage bags lining the walls. I loved it. But having kids has actually made me less likely to throw the perfect Halloween party. In my head, I really want to, and someday soon I’m gonna make it happen.
But for now…I’m tired ya’ll.
However, that doesn’t mean I skip the costumes. I still always dress up, no matter what, on Halloween. I really love that part of the holiday. Coming up with a creative idea. Searching online on Etsy or Amazon for the perfect costume. Visiting the local thrift stores or other retailers and checking out the options…and sometimes, if I find the inspiration even making my own (like I’m doing this year! STAY TUNED.)
Here’s a little retrospective of the past few Halloweens. My apologies for the blurry photos down below. I’m so happy I got my new camera last year!
Cristi as Rainbow Dash, John as Ninjago’s Sensei Wu, Ellie as the Pink Power Ranger and Ronin as the Green Ninja.

This is actually a great memory because under that very large gypsy skirt I am so pregnant with Ellie!
I’m so excited this year because after our awesome trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter this summer (which I still need to share with you!) I got inspired to make my own costume (for the most part) this Halloween. While at Olivander’s wand shop, I purchased myself the wand of one of my absolute favorite Harry Potter characters: Ginny Weasley. She is SO underrated in my opinion, but truly she is one of the strongest, most loving and loyal characters in this fantastic book series. And my Halloween costume idea was born.
So this year I will be Ginny Weasley playing Quidditch. To give you an idea of what I’m aiming for, here she is from the 6th book/film. I am pumped to make this happen.
What will you be for Halloween?
