I know that this seems very fast but I remember when I did this diet four years ago, a similar pattern emerged. I lost quite a bit right at the beginning and then it started to taper off and slow down a bit. But back then I lost over 30 pounds in about 3 months and pretty easily managed my weight within a range for a few years. But as we know, as we age it’s not always easy to keep that extra weight off.
I realized a few things this week that I wanted to note. I actually had a med dose change about a month ago and I’m starting to wonder if that caused me to gain weight. I really was shocked at the number I saw on the scale a little over a week ago, so I’m looking forward to speaking with my doctor later this week so see what my weight was at that appointment. It just goes to show that sometimes when managing mental health, physical health can fall by the wayside. So it’s important to keep track of these things. My psychiatrist tracks weight and blood pressure at every appointment and I really appreciate that about her. It’s an approach not all mental health professionals have.
Another thing I noticed is that I feel more positive. I’m not saying that my typical anxiety and depression doesn’t rear its ugly head now and then but having this motivation and taking control has put me on an upswing.
Lastly, I really appreciate doing this with my husband who is a constant support to me. And today, two good friends have also decided to join in. I just love that! The more support the better. So if you feel like joining our little high protein diet team, comment here or message me.
