GUEST POST: By Donna Buettner, Mom & Grandma
Hi, I’m Donna. I’m a 47-year-old mom and grandma from the Chicagoland area. My daughters are 28 ½ and 27, and my step son is 26. I’m “Nonna” to a beautiful 19-month-old baby girl! I was a nanny for 17 years and now do book keeping and accounting for our family business. (Please note, I am in no way a medical professional and the below is based on my personal opinions and experiences only.)
I am so passionate about the healthier life I have been given through the healing powers of my chiropractors capable hands! It’s often frustrating to talk to seemingly intelligent people who just don’t realize what our spine does and how important it is to our overall well being. It seems as though many people know very little about these wonderful doctors and how much they can help us live a healthier and happier life.
I personally don’t like taking prescribed medication, legal drugs that in many cases do nothing but mask what my body is trying to tell me. So, imagine my surprise when I found a doctor (a chiropractor) who wanted to know about my health from head to toe, inside and out. Someone who knew that my arthritis, TMJ and my sinus issues were all caused by my out-of-alignment spine and could actually be corrected by adjusting it.
I’m passionate because due to my own chiropractic treatment, I’m healthier than I’ve been in over 30 years. Other medical doctors told me there was no cure for my JRA, that I would just have to take meds the rest of my life to help ease the pain. They said there was no cure for my TMJ, that I would have to deal with the pain in my jaw, give up eating apples or biting into anything crunchy or chewy. I suffered yearly with sinus issues.
Now all that has changed! I haven’t taken any medicine in over 2 years! I no longer have joints that swell and cause me pain. My jaw is fine. I can eat again. I feel great all thanks to chiropractic treatment that so many are afraid of or think is “alternative.” To me it’s the only alternative.
If you had experienced all that I have – you too would want to preach the word. God bless my chiropractic doctors, and the love and care they put into their practice. I thank them for listening to my whole story, for knowing that my knees hurting, my shoulder hurting, my sinus issues and other “issues” were related. I thank them for asking each week how I’m feeling and actively addressing any of my concerns. I thank them for not pulling out a prescription pad and sweeping me out of the office in 5 minutes. I thank them for caring about my nutrition and exercise habits. And mostly I thank them for caring about me and my family, this amazing group of doctors that allow me to live healthy and happy!
My chiropractors are “Maximized Living Doctors,” who are known worldwide and have several books. I recommend them to everyone. Recently I even heard testimonies from people with ADD, ADHD, bipolar and depression who are now drug free because of these amazing doctors. These chiropractors can help many childhood situations such as ear infections by doing adjustments until the child’s ears are clear. Often with no antibiotics and no surgeries needed. I wish I would have known to try when my children were little.
Many think of chiropractors as “back doctors” but they work to heal the whole body. Their goal is to put your body in alignment to heal itself and work exactly how it was designed. I want to get the word out, and get more insurance companies to cover for this corrective treatment, that I believe can get people healthier and less medicated.
What is your experience with chiropractors? I’ve been very lucky to find these wonderful doctors and I hope many of you have too. I’d love to hear about your experiences and help educate others about this wonderful type of medical treatment.
May you all live to be drug free, healthy and happy like me!
