Disclosure: American Girls provided the Little Girls Twinkle Party Dress and the set for Bitty Baby. All opinions are my own as always.
We try to instill that there’s really no such thing as “boy” things and “girl” things, but she often gravitates to the pink, frilly and sparkly, where Ronin doesn’t.
Over the summer at BlogHer I had the chance to visit the American Girl flagship store in Chicago. They had an event for bloggers to introduce their new expanded line of Bitty Baby dolls. And American Girl surprised us with our own Bitty Baby. Ellie did not have one at the time, but she loved the store here in the Seattle area. She was thrilled when her doll arrived.
Then American Girl contacted me again to see if we might like to review some clothes for Ellie and her doll (who by the way she named “Princess”). I checked out their offerings and was so excited to see this Twinkle Party Dress available for both little girls and their dolls. With the holiday approaching it was perfect.
She about passed out when she received the box, and wanted to dress Princess and herself immediately. She looks so dang cute!
Of course then she didn’t want to take it off. So she watched a movie, and then we walked to the bus stop to get Ronin and then got the mail. She’s been wearing it around like this a ton since she got it. And loves to play “fashion show” all of the time. (Mommy of course has to dress up too.)
Then a couple of weeks later, when it was picture day at school, she just HAD to wear her red party dress. We just got the photos back today and oh my goodness, she looks like an angel (if I do say so myself.) Not that I’m biased at all. 😉
The dress Twinkle Party Dress has knit bodice, puff sleeves, and a sweet bow, plus a sparkly mesh bubble-skirt. The quality of the stitching and material is very nice. (And my grandmother was a dressmaker and taught me well the importance of quality fabrics.) There’s also an available headband for girls but we didn’t get one. But the doll dress set does include a headband and shiny red shoes. Right now the doll set is on sale for $21 (regularly $27). The dress is $54, which is a bit costly, but not more so than a fancy girls dress you might buy elsewhere for a holiday party or wedding.
I highly recommend this set. Two thumbs up!
