What You’ll Need:
Cake Mix
Marshmallow Creme
Chocolate Frosting
Ovation Sticks (2 boxes)
2 Skylanders Figures of Choice
Wilton 6 x 2 Inch Round Cake Pan
Step 1–Bake & Cool Cake: Mix cake batter per instructions and pour into 6-inch round cake pan about 1/2 full. Bake and flip over to cool. (Cake will remain upside down when decorated so that the top of finished cake is very flat.)
Step 2–Frost Top of Cake: Using the marshmallow creme, frost top of cake with a layer thick enough to cover the cake. Le sit for 3-5 minutes and marshmallow will flatten and smooth on its own.
Step 3–Frost Sides of Cake: Using the chocolate icing, frost sides of cake with a thin layer (just enough to cover the cake and help the Ovation candy sticks stay in the next step.
Step 4–Ovation Sticks: Place two full size Ovations chocolate sticks on sides in six evenly spaced locations. You will cut these down with scissors to about 3/4 of the original length. Then place smaller Ovation sticks in between. The smaller size is 1/2 of an Ovation stick. These should come to just the top of the cake as shown.
Step 5–Decorate with Skylanders Figures: For this cake, I’ve used figures from this Skylanders Cake Kit.
Step 6–ENJOY your portal cake at your next Skylanders party for plate date!
