Day 18 of 30 Days of Positive Affirmations is all about organization, in my life and in my space.
I am not always the most organized of people. Poor John. He’s actually much tidier than me. He even has some organization pet peeves … like he hates clutter in hallways and on counter tops. I actually have to agree, I prefer clear spaces too, but for me it’s not at the pet peeve level.
But I do know that an uncluttered and organized space can do wonders for my emotional health and stress level.
Back before we met 13 years ago my home space was a disaster. I was way more organized at work and I think I still tend to lean that way. But with the addition of my many blogging supplies, plus the kids craft and art supplies (and of course toys!) even my little home work space started to get pretty messy. So Ellie and I did a little Spring cleaning and organizing this weekend with our work and art supplies, and here are our tips for making the most of small spaces.
Small Space Organization Tips
Label Everything.
Chances are when you’re organizing a small space, you’ll have to stack things and labeling can really help keep things clear and easily accessible. To make things easier to see, I used these resusable chalk board stickers. That way if I decide to change things up at a later time, I can still label everything, no problem.
Stackable Containers.
Snapware is one of my favorites for lunch storage (check out my Minecraft and Pokemon lunch kits!) so when they offered to send some of their stackable Smart Store home storage containers with handles, I thought sweet! Time to organize the home office! My very small corner work desk needs to hold a lot of supplies. It’s limited shelves are pretty shallow so finding good storage containers with several widths, heights and depths to fit any shelf was such a score.
It’s also very handy that they’re see through in case the labels don’t list every single items in the bin.
Snapping Storage with Handles.
The fact that these guys securely snap and have carry handles is pretty awesome. We’re always pulling out art and blogging supplies and carrying them to other parts of the house for use.

Recycled Small Storage.
For this Spring cleaning project, Ellie and I also made some DIY small storage containers to hold little items like buttons and beads. Using recycled plastic ice cream containers, we partially covered them in solid tape (we used cork and glitter duct tape) and then put chalk board stickers on these as well.
I like the way it turned out and Ellie had fun decorating one for herself too in pink glitter tape of course. You know how many tiny bits and pieces of things kids can accumulate so having her own little closed storage space on my desk is a very good thing!
We also created a little recycled pen holder as well, using a pastic cup, duct tape and the chalk stickers.
Simple Wall Art.
I realized that I didn’t have anything on the walls around me when we started this project except for one of my affirmations taped to the desktop. So I decided to print out a copy of my Blogger Butterfly art from a couple of years ago, and then also hang a few more of my affirmations. I’m thinking I may do an affirmation wall art piece once this whole process of the 30 Days of Positive Affirmations is complete. I’ll keep you posted!
What leads me to today’s affirmation and the inspiration for this post…
Affirmation #18
Today I am repeating this affirmation over and over. Not every area of my life and space is as nice and organized as my little home office, but by putting this thought out into the universe I am projecting a positive attitude that my life can be. It will be!

#18: Organization {plus storage giveaway!}

I like Snapware because they are stackable and transparent. I have done some spring cleaning but still lots left to do
I love that they make organizing so much easier. Yes I’ve started spring cleaning:)
I love the Snapwell storage boxes because they are made of clear plastic so that I can see easily what is inside.
I like them because you can see through the walls. Done a little bit of spring cleaning but more to do
We have begun our spring cleaning and these storage containers would be a very welcomed addition. Today, we installed a wall unit in my office and the Snapware storage pieces would fit in perfectly! Thanks for sharing your experience with them!
I need to get organized and I like these containers.
I have done some spring cleaning, but have more to do. I love how snapware is transparent so I can easily spot what I need from the bin. Thank you for the chance to win!
I love them because they have a top that fastens closed so they look neat and nothing spills out.
I love that these containers are compact and clear so you can easily see what’s inside. I just welcomed a little girl in March, so no Spring cleaning has been done yet.
I love that they have handles which makes them easy to carry from room to room. I have just begun to do some spring cleaning.
