It’s the most wonderful time of the year and I’m thinking about quick and easy holiday entertaining. I want less time slaving over the hot stove and more time for family adventures and activities. We are just SO busy with big work deadlines and all of the shopping we need to accomplish, not to mention those exciting but pesky holiday travel preparations. So I’m taking shortcuts when it comes to meal prep mixing pre-prepared and frozen foods with homemade specialties.
One flavor I just adore this time of year is cranberry, and after the yummy fresh cranberry sauce that I made for Thanksgiving, I decided to try my hand at a homemade Tangy Cranberry Dipping Sauce to go with some of our favorite frozen appetizers. It makes holiday parties and meal times so much easier, and then we can get out and enjoy a holiday movie or activity with our friends and loved ones with less hassle.
Here’s my recipe for a tasty and very festive holiday dipping sauce perfect for dinner.
Tangy Cranberry Dipping Sauce Recipe
Ingredients*:
2 cups fresh cranberries
1 navel orange
1 cup of sugar
1 1/2 cups of water
*This recipe will make enough dipping sauce for one appetizer plate. You may want to double or triple depending on your holiday menu.
Instructions:
In a small saucepan, mix sugar and water over high heat and bring to a boil. Turn temperature to low heat and add fresh cranberries. Cut navel orange in half and squeeze juice of one full orange into saucepan. Bring back to a slow boil and let simmer for approximately 10 minutes. Remove from heat and using a strainer, strain sauce into a serving bowl to remove large chunks of cranberries. Serve immediately. It takes great warm! Note: If you refrigerate, the cranberry sauce will harden a bit so you may need to warm it up again before serving.
I created this wonderful homemade festive and tangy dipping sauce to accompany some of our favorite Pagoda frozen appetizers, potstickers and egg rolls. I’ve paired them with unsweetened Gold Peak® tea, which is just wonderful together.
This combination is delicious and makes holiday entertaining or family meal night simple. You can’t beat that. Plus when you purchase these products, you’ll get a $5 movie discount! Score one for family movie night.
